ABOUT US
The Assembly of Unitarian Baptists is a renewal of first century Christianity as envisioned by a faithful few. Established in 1999, we are attempting to reach out beyond our community with this website and other means to communicate to the world our views. Unitarian Baptists have no connection to the Unitarian Universalist Association. We are descended from certain General Baptists in England and Socianians from Europe that date back to the 1500's. Before that time, the faith was preserved, since the time of the Apostles, in underground churches in Italy and other countries. Our Church is a modern group still in development. We are mostly congregational in policy but have a strong elder office to ensure doctrinal purity. We differ with Unitarian Baptists of the past on this, feeling an absolute need for a single doctrinal position. We are casual in dress and manner within our meetings. We do not require tithing. We uphold the morality of the Bible while understanding it is not inerrant as handed down. We do not accept the gay lifestyle of some, feeling it far from the Spirit of God. While divorce is common in our society, we feel it should happen only when there is a serious reason or one may incur judgment. We uphold God's Law but know there are also sins of omission and sins of character. People need understanding from the Church to develop Christian character and a proper lifestyle. Our commitment is to the correct concepts of God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit. God is One. Christ was human and now is a new type of human who is God's regent in heaven. God's Spirit is a part of him, a universal essence through which his power may be manifested. We as Christians can receive that Holy Spirit and be begotten from above. This begins the process of transformation, so some day we will be like Christ.
OUR VISION
Our vision is to complete the commission of our Lord. While we cannot be witnesses of the things that happened in the first century AD, we can testify to changed lives and restored people. It is our vision to see others in local areas set up their own churches and abide in our doctrine. With this we pray for empowerment so that demonic instruments are expelled and healing comes to many. It is also our hope that as a body of believers we can direct our nation along the right path or surely we will lose our freedoms. Where there is no vision, the people perish. People die because of their sins but worse is that souls die, lost forever to humanity, left only to judgment. People are misguided and deceived. We pray this new vision will enable some to see the glorious truth of the religion of Jesus Christ.
